What Youtube Unsubscribe All reads, what it keeps on your device, and what it never does.

1. Who I am

I'm Mohammed Albalawi, the independent developer who makes Youtube Unsubscribe All (the "Extension"). For anything privacy-related, write to [email protected].

2. What it reads

Your subscription list. When you open youtube.com/feed/channels, the Extension first reads the subscription data YouTube's own page has already loaded, then asks YouTube's own subscription endpoint, using the signed-in session of that page, for any channels the page did not include. For each channel it reads the name, handle, link, avatar link, subscriber count, description and bell setting, to list the channels in its manager, which takes the place of YouTube's list on that page. The avatars it shows are YouTube's own images, loaded by the page from YouTube the same way YouTube's list loads them. It sends the same kind of request to unsubscribe from the channels you choose, or to subscribe again to the channels in a backup file you pick with Restore from CSV; that file is read in your browser and uploaded nowhere. These requests go to youtube.com only.

Your subscriptions page. If that endpoint is unavailable, the Extension reads the channel names, links and subscribe buttons on the page instead and clicks the buttons for the channels you choose. It is loaded on youtube.com pages only to notice when you open your subscriptions page, and it reads nothing on any other page.

Channel feeds. Only when you click Select inactive, sort by last upload, or change the months threshold, and only for channels whose date is not already on this device, the Extension requests the channel's public feed from youtube.com to read the date of its newest upload. These requests go to youtube.com only and carry no cookies.

Channel pages. If a row on your subscriptions page has no channel id, the Extension reads that channel's public page on youtube.com to find it.

The current tab's address. When you open the Extension's popup, it checks whether the current tab is on youtube.com so it can offer to open your subscriptions page. It can see the address of youtube.com tabs only.

3. What it keeps on this device

Your kept channels, your months threshold, your CSV backup choice, the queue of a run that has not finished and the upload dates it has read stay in the browser's extension storage on this device. Upload dates are kept for up to a week.

A copy of your subscription list stays there too: each channel's name, handle, link, avatar link, subscriber count, description and bell setting, up to 10,000 channels, refreshed every time you open your subscriptions page. The copy is filed under YouTube's internal id for the signed-in account, so two accounts never mix; that id stays on this device.

Nothing is sent anywhere. Removing the Extension clears all of it.

The CSV backup is a file your browser downloads to your device. Where it goes from there is up to you.

4. What it never does

There is no server of mine behind it: no analytics, no tracking, no account, no ads and no remote code.

It never sees your password, never reads your watch history, never runs on another site, and never sells, shares or transfers any data.

5. Permissions and why

Access to https://www.youtube.com/*: to show its manager on your subscriptions page, list, remove and restore subscriptions through YouTube's own endpoint or buttons there, and read channel feeds from youtube.com.

storage: to remember your kept channels, months threshold, backup choice, an unfinished run's queue, upload dates and the copy of your list on this device between visits.

Nothing else. It does not ask for your tabs, your browsing history or access to any other site.

6. Your YouTube account

Unsubscribing and subscribing again happen in your own YouTube account through YouTube's own endpoint or buttons, so YouTube's privacy policy covers what YouTube records about it.

7. Store disclosures

What I declare in each browser store's privacy form matches this page: no user data collected, none sold, none transferred, and none used for anything other than the Extension's single purpose.

8. Changes and contact

Updates to this policy are posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Questions or requests: [email protected].
